Powell River Yacht Club Dinghy Dock Grand Opening

The Powell River Yacht Club membership gathered at the Shingle Mill Marina to officially open the PRYC Dinghy Dock on Saturday, August 27th. Max Ferrier, Vice Commodore, was recognised for his stellar efforts as project manager and dock designer. Thanks Max! After the ceremony, the members blasted off to the Powell River Legion for shared food and beer. August's monthly activity prize, sponsored by Sam's PRO (Powell River Outdoors) was won by Dan Dyble. The fish are holding at Lang Bay. See Sam and his staff for all your fishing tackle needs and go and get yourself some fresh salmon. Remember, shop local, think global.

Dinghy Dock at Shingle Mill Marina

Powell River Yacht Club dinghy dock in the making. On Monday, August 22nd, a team of yacht club members and volunteers from Powell River Rotary and other supportive organizations lent helping hands to construct the dingy dock. The dingy dock will contribute to dinghy sailing in Powell River for years to come. Thanks to Dave Formosa of the Shingle Mill, Valley Building Supply, Jackson's Saw Mill, and other generous suppliers of materials for this worthy endeavour. The dock is finally a reality. Stay tuned for future dinghy sailing opportunities through the Powell River Yacht Club.

The Powell River Yacht Club Youth Sailing Quality Food Fund Raiser was a spectacular success with mustard on every ones faces and shirts. It was a fun time in the front of Quality foods. The kids raised $406.00 for the youth sailing program in 3 hours. WAY TO GO KIDS! Thanks to Bruce and Sandy of Quality Foods for supporting this endeavor. Thanks to the kids, their parents, the club volunteers and all the people that contributed to youth sailing in Powell River. Another hot dog sale is planned for September 10th. Come out and support the kids and youth sailing in Powell River. A bottle drive is planned. So... Save your recyclables--- the kids will be knocking on your door.

BC Day Long Weekend Cruise To Gorge Harbour

The BC Day Long Weekend saw five skippers from Powell River sail up to Gorge Harbour to enjoy the amazing dock facilities. Hot tub, swimming pool and barbeque pits are just some of the amenities offered at Gorge Harbour Marina. A splendid... weekend was had by all.
