2011 Pumpkin Bowl Photos

The long awaited photos of the Junior Sailing Team competing at the West Vancouver Yacht Club's Pumpkin Bowl. What a great weekend!

The 2011 Halloween Party was a scene of Royalty. Hosted by the very Royal Anne who treated her guests to Bat Juice and a Wicked Remedy. Distinguished guests included The King and Queen of Hearts, Genghis Khan, Cleopatra and the King of Japan in his ceremonial Samurai Warrior wardrobe attended by his geisha hand maiden. It was an evening of spectacular costumes, good fun, good friends old and new.
October's sponsor was Kev's Woodworking. Kevin Hagon, our very own Samurai Worrier drew the winning name for the monthly activity prize. The lucky members were Louise and Gary Fribance. For all your new construction or renovation needs contact Kevin for your free estimate.

The King of Hearts (Commodore Gerard Nachtegaele) presents the Costume Award. Voted by all present, Kevin Hagon takes 1st prize for the Male division.

Kevin's Geisha Girl aka Janet wins the Female Division.

What a spectacular couple! They designed and made these costumes hours before the party. How great is that! A hard act to follow for next year. They really raised the bench mark. So.... Start planning now!

Gorillas in the Mist

GORRILLAS IN THE MIST. Well not quite. There may or may not have been gorillas out there. The day scheduled for our club sail around Harwood Island began with the Beach Gardens' Marina blanketed in a thick, pea soup fog, light wind and a forecast that offered little hope for an early change. By noon, the day had changed into a beautiful day. Unfortunately, the crews were off doing other things in this wonderful place we call home. Even the birds were grounded!

Wow! The Junior Sailing Team went to the Pumpkin Bowl on the weekend, performed against some stiff competition and placed in the top 10. The 420 results are below. The Opti sailors also competed showing very well. With a 3rd place in the Opti sailing, an 8th and a 10th place in the 420 class, and a lot of fun, the team was impressive. Stay tuned for photos.

October 2011 Wine and Cheese Gala

Our first annual not quite black tie evening was a lot of fun. Laura Kew of Squatters Creek Wines showcased a fine selection of red and white wines that we all enjoyed. Members brought a wide selection of cheeses to accompany the wines. ...Squatters Creek Wines was the club sponsor for September and the winner of the monthly activity prize was Randy and Dorothy Kirk. Not only did Laura provide wines, stemware and gift certifcate for the activity prize she also gave each member a gift certificate from Squatters Creek Wines. How generous is that!
