Powell River Yacht Club Easter Weekend Cruise to Squirrel Cove

Friday started out with the threat of rain and in fact a few, very few, raindrops appeared.  The winds were following, and very light, all the way to the Copelands.  On exiting Thulin Passage, we found a 9+ knot breeze on the beam for a wonderful sail across the sound to Squirrel Cove.

Saturday dawn brought a beautiful sunny day.   The boats were covered in frost, but the day warmed into an absolutely wonderful April day.   Gerard led a guided hike on Cortes and shared with the group his extensive knowledge of the flora.  (Movie to follow)

Saturday ended with Gerard and Deirdre hosted a spectacular Easter Dinner aboard the Magic Karpet III.  Complete with baked ham and a freshly made cake.

Sunday morning was not quite as chilly, I was thankful since my boat has no heat, and was again sunny.  Unfortunately it was now time to leave Desolation Sound.

This was my first cruise with the the club and it proved to be a wonderful weekend with delightful people.  Thanks to Deirdre for organizing the event.
